Most would never try 75 Hard? Why? On first glance, it looks tough. It looks inconvenient. Many feel that 75 days is just too difficult to complete. Some don’t want the challenge. Typically, I have found that those who own a business LOVE a challenge. Owning a business is challenging. Why not do something that challenges you on a whole different level?
What is 75 Hard?
-
-
- Two 45-minute workouts / day
- One of the two workouts needs to be outside
- The workouts must be at least three hours apart
- Drink a gallon of water each day
- Read 10 pages of a self development / business development book
- Follow a specific diet of your choosing
- No cheat meals and no alcohol
- Daily progress picture
- Two 45-minute workouts / day
-
While this may not look easy, the benefits that this program gives to you far outweigh the inconveniences.
Andy Frisella, the founder of 75 Hard, has made it very clear that this isn’t a fitness program. Listen to his explanation of 75 Hard on his podcast. 75 Hard is a mental toughness program first and foremost. It has a fitness component but if you are simply looking to lose weight, there are plenty of other programs you can choose that might be more appropriate. I did lose 10 pounds but that wasn’t why I did it.
What lessons did 75 Hard teach me?
1.Everything is achievable if it is a priority
-
-
- Many of us have been caught saying that we don’t have time to do something. Maybe it’s to workout, maybe it’s to spend time with your spouse or child. Regardless, we make an excuse. In reality, that item just isn’t a priority in your life. If it was a priority, you would make it happen!
-
2. Structure is a great friend during dark days
-
-
- During this challenge, I had to put my 16 1/2 year old Bichon Frise to sleep. It was very sad, and normally I would have eaten something fattening to comfort me or taken the day off. I had a schedule to maintain so none of that happened. Staying focused an on track helped me in moving forward.
-
3. Life is all about choices. Choose wisely.
4. 75 Hard became a metaphor for life. There are ups and downs during the 75 days just like life. We take the good with the not so good.
5. Sometimes you feel like you are in a never ending journey but you put one foot in front of the other until you see the finish line and the accomplishment.
-
-
- Isn’t that the same in business and in life? If you own a business, sometimes we feel that it takes forever to move forward and achieve that next step. In reality, we have to keep moving forward one step at a time.
-
6.Never say die:
-
-
- I found that I got to a certain point in the challenge and realized that there was NO way that I wasn’t going to finish it.
- Have you ever had that time in life or business where it felt the same? You knew that you had to keep going. There was no turning back?
-
7.Clarity:
-
-
- 75 Hard brought even more clarity on my goals and decisions for my business. Maybe it was due to the focus and planning that I had to have during this time. I found that my upcoming goals because even more clear and I got to the point where I didn’t question a decision but said yes and decided to figure the how out later.
-
8.Get more done in a day than ever before
-
-
- I have always been a great planner and great at getting a lot done each day! This time, I really focused on not only getting things done but achieving small goals on a daily basis to move the business forward one step at a time.
- Each week, I would look at what was on my schedule and always make sure I had time set aside for the second workout or to make the right food. Everything I did was intentional!
-
9.Build confidence in everything I do
-
-
- Accomplishing 75 Hard provided me with a level of confidence that I didn’t know existed. Before achieving this goal, I wasn’t sure if I would continue to Frisella’s LIVEHARD program that comes after 75 Hard. Now I am determined to take the next step!

Why Challenge Yourself?
The greater question is, why not push yourself? What is stopping you? What fear is holding you back? It is only 75 days after all. 75 days is only 2 1/2 months, which is a drop in the bucket compared to our lives. The lessons you learn in life and entrepreneurship by doing 75 Hard far outweigh the perceived inconveniences. Even if you fail once or twice, you will still learn lessons about yourself.
I completed 75 Hard my second time around. The first time, I realized that didn’t get myself in the mindset to succeed. Isn’t life and business all about being in the mindset to succeed? If you step out the door in the morning not expecting success. What will you get? Nothing! Live life to the fullest and take the challenge called 75 Hard! You won’t regret it!
