Building a Legacy to expand the future for the children and community! Ted Hoskinson started Roots and Wings after his wife passed away suddenly in 2016. Together they had decided that when they died they wanted to create something to help children and families in need. As Ted developed the idea to honor teachers, he stressed the importance of giving back to the community. Learn how Ted along with the Board of Directors and community has modified and expanded the big vision for Roots and Wings to where it is today.
Host Bio: Allison Turner owns both BatCat Media Group and Dream Plan Start Grow, which is a subsidiary of BatCat. She loves working with entrepreneurs through business coaching and marketing to make their vision and business shine. One of her true passions is working with new business owners and those looking to start a business on bringing their vision and brand to life. She loves exploring the entrepreneurial journey with each of her guests to educate new business owners and potential business owners on the journey of entrepreneurship.
Guest Bio: Theodore (Ted) Hoskinson has been a lifelong champion of education. After attending St Albans School for Boys and Tulane University, he taught 2nd grade in New Orleans, and 4th and 6thgrades in Washington DC. With a decade of teaching to his credit, Ted was asked to move into an administrative role, and from there began a successful career in private business. When his wife Anne passed away suddenly in 2016, he established Roots and Wings, Inc., a dream both he and Anne had shared. Today, Ted is honoring Anne’s memory through the charity’s two programs: Project Uplift, a reading and reading comprehension program for elementary school students in need; and the Above & Beyond Teacher and Staff Recognition Awards, honoring public school teachers in 18 public schools in Delray Beach, Boca Raton and Boynton Beach.
